The mission of Wynona's House is to promote justice and provide healing for child victims of abuse and neglect in Essex County, New Jersey. We do this by coordinating investigations, prosecution, treatment, and prevention services for children and non-offending families utilizing innovative, evidence-based, multi-disciplinary team approaches to improving outcomes for the children and families we serve. Wynona’s House revolutionized the process endured by children and families of Essex County coping with the aftermath of abuse and neglect. We are a collective of more than 70 multi-disciplinary advocates to help coordinate a cross-systems collaboration that leverages both public and private resources to improve outcomes addressing the problem of child abuse, neglect, and maltreatment within the 22 municipalities of Essex County.

Wynona’s House Child Advocacy Center in Newark, NJ, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Program Officer to oversee our programmatic operations and initiatives. This full-time role involves leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of our core programs including the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the Family Advocacy Program, Prevention Services, and the Internship Program, ensuring they align with our mission and strategic goals. As Chief Program Officer , you'll manage program budgets, supervise a dedicated team of program directors and coordinators, foster a collaborative work environment, and drive continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery.


The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership and program management skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and balance multiple priorities and projects. They should possess a strong background in child advocacy, program development, and evaluation, with a strategic mindset and proactive approach to achieving organizational goals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, operate, evaluate, staff, and budget all Wynona’s House programs and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals including the Multi-Disciplinary Team, Intake Coordination, Family Advocacy, Prevention Services, Intership Program, and various programmatic grants.
  • Ensure that Wynona’s House meets or exceeds the National Children’s Alliance Standards of Accreditation.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the organization by developing and implementing programmatic strategies in collaboration with the executive team and key partners that align with Wynona’s House’s mission and goals.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with co-located partners and external stakeholders, including community partners, funders, and governmental agencies.
  • Represent Wynona’s House in various forums to advocate for the needs of child victims and their families.
  • Support program funding through grant writing, assist with fundraising efforts, and lead resource development and community engagement initiatives to enhance program accessibility and impact.
  • Ensure accurate, robust, and timely reporting to funders and stakeholders, demonstrating accountability and transparency .
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in Social Work (MSW or PhD), Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of child welfare experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience leading multiple programs and teams.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Pay Range: USD $75,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
