Job Description
Personal trainers have, in a lot of ways, the best job in the world: they get to apply practical knowledge in a fun environment to help real people literally change their lives, every day.
If you are an effective communicator with a passion for helping people get to a healthier place, we have an opportunity for you! Personal Trainers at Anytime Fitness don’t only show people how to safely & effectively work out to reach their goals (though that is certainly part of it), they also are good listeners & team players who create an inviting atmosphere for our members & clients — if working out is fun, it’s way easier to keep doing it!
Our personal trainers are responsible for running fitness consultations, private training sessions, and small group training sessions. They also help keep the club clean & tidy, participate in community events, create excitement, and occasionally give gym tours & sign up new members.
What we offer:
- A unique opportunity - play a direct role in improving the health of real people in your local community. Literally.
- Unconventional work environment - no suits and ties here! We expect professionalism but the nature of the job does mean you get to rock athletic apparel every day. You also aren’t sitting behind a desk (most of the time) — you’ll almost certainly get your steps in without even thinking about it.
- Free gym membership - you need to be on top of your own fitness game if you’re going to effectively help others, so we provide access to all 24/7 full-service fitness facilities within our organization (currently 6 in the region).
- Competitive pay - hourly rates plus commission. The more people you help, the more you make!
- Flexible schedule - work as little as 6 hours a week or as many as 40 depending on club needs & your availability.
- Support - you’ll be part of an immediate team you work with every day, a regional team that includes everyone in our 6-club organization, and also have access to company-level resources like free continuing education (yep, that’s right — never pay for CECs again). Your managers are always a text or phone call away (or up front in the office) so you’ll always have the support you need to succeed. Oh, and professional development is built right into your weekly rhythms so you almost can’t help but get better at your job as time goes on.
- Sales training - most trainers don’t get into the industry because they love sales, but it is a necessary skill if you’re going to be great at what you do. We understand this and provide top-tier sales training to help you be your very best at winning — and keeping — clients.
What we need from you:
- Passion - a desire to help people is at the core of what we do. This is not a clock-in-clock-out job where you trudge through 8-hour shifts and collect a paycheck — personal trainers are culture creators who help shape the experience our members have every time they walk in our doors. When you love what you do, every day is a great day!
- Availability & Flexibility - the most successful trainers understand that they work for their clients and need to be available when others are off work, which can mean early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends. (Every trainer does not necessarily need to be available for all of those, but at least one is a big plus.) The more often you can be present on-site and available to help, the faster you will grow your book of business.
- Education - squats and deadlifts are not the same thing, and good trainers can explain (and demonstrate) the difference. We require all training staff to hold a current personal training certification from an accredited source such as NASM, ACE, ISSA, NPTI, or NSCA, or be in the process of earning one.
- Curiosity - the world of fitness is constantly evolving; great trainers have a desire to continue learning and applying that knowledge to best help their clients & their team.
- Professionalism - you can lift, but can you make a phone call? Keep client files organized? Communicate effectively and in a timely fashion? Be at your post ten minutes early and in uniform every day? We’ll help you build the business skills to be successful as a trainer but we expect you to bring your A game when it comes to general professionalism.
Other nice-to-haves:
Bilingual English-Spanish a plus
Social media marketing experience a plus
Covid-19 vaccinated preferred
First Aid / CPR certified required
0-5+ years industry experience - you don’t need to have worked in the industry, but some experience training friends or family is strongly preferred
If this sounds like an opportunity you can’t pass up we’d love to hear from you!
